INFERNO & BURLESQUE
OCTOBER 7 — 29, 2022
ACB is serving gothic horror, distilled, in a neon chalice, and you may not be quite sure what you’ve swallowed.
This season, our Halloween double feature is joined by a third…a dessert, if you will. We hope you have an appetite for it.
THE NUTCRACKER SUITE
NOVEMBER 25 — DECEMBER 24, 2022
An immersive experience—for all five senses—of the Tchaikovsky classic that delights children and adults alike.
Once you’ve entered The Nutcracker Suite, you may not want to go home.
ASTAIRE DANCES
FEBRUARY 10 — 26, 2023
Astaire Dances has become a Valentine’s tradition for Los Angeles. This year’s show features classics such as “Dancing In The Dark”, “All Of You”, and “I’m Old Fashioned.” The original dances are brought to life with live renditions of the songs that inspired them.
Astaire Dances is paired with a new ballet by ACB Director Lincoln Jones.
DANCING SCHOOL ONE
MARCH 26, 2023
If you want to learn how ballet works, you’ll be unlikely to find a way that is more entertaining, dynamic, and illuminating than this.
Dancing School uses an approach rarely, if ever, seen – dance in comparative performance. Multiple dancers attempt the same, short, solo dance, and ACB’s Artistic Director compares them, movement by movement, in real time, articulating for the audience their strengths, weaknesses, and differences in expression. There is no faster or more enlightening way to approach ballet technique and artistic expression in dance.
Conversations investigates the art of ballet through different perspectives. ACB invites artists and thinkers from diverse fields to talk with ACB about what they see in the studio. Past Conversations have included LA Times investigative journalist Jeffrey Fleishman on building a ballet, actress Jane Kaczmarek on the audition process, and painter Kenton Nelson on the creative process.
Dancing School is a ticketed event. Conversations is a membership benefit of Ballet Society.
HOMECOMING
APRIL 21 — MAY 6, 2023
This spring, American Contemporary Ballet brings you one of the most American dance forms: the drill team halftime show. Of course, this drill team wears pointe shoes and has been training in the most rigorous form of dance for most of their lives. Go ACB!
CONCERTO BAROCCO
JUNE 15 — 25, 2023
George Balanchine, an artistic genius on the level of Michelangelo, created a masterpiece to Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor. The result is sensual, daring, and sublime. This one should be on any great art lover’s must-see list.
Concerto Barocco is paired with a new ballet by ACB Director Lincoln Jones.
